DoD 8570/8140 Compliance

WHAT IS DoD 8570/8140?

Signed August 15, 2004, DoD 8570 is a directive which requires ANSI accredited certification for information assurance workers. Recently, officials realized they needed to change the way the DoD handled information and network security. Changes in technologies since 2004 and an increase in cyber attacks were the driving force behind this new directive. On August 11, 2015, the 8140 DoD directive was signed by representatives of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Military Funding Programs

Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty Chapter 30

The Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill™ is an Active Duty program providing up to 36 months of education benefits. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. Eligibility criteria can be found on the GI Bill website.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR&E) – Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment is a program to assist veterans who have a service-connected disability. It helps them prepare for, find, and keep suitable IT jobs. Eligibility criteria and more information can be found at the VA Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment website.

Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)

The Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill Active Duty program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. Generally, benefits are payable for 15 years following your release from active duty. Eligibility criteria can be found on the GI Bill website.

Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA)

Spouses of active duty members and activated members of the National Guard and Reserve Components may be eligible for the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program. Learn more here.

The Veterans Workforce Investment Program (VWIP) is a competitive grant program offered by the Veterans Employment and Training Services (VETS) of the U.S. Department of Labor. It is intended to meet the workforce investment needs of the veterans and to perform outreach and public information activities to develop and promote employment and job training opportunities in the green job industry.
